Capital Gain/Loss on China Property Developer Bond
Hi
If you surrender or dispose of your interest in an offshore reporting fund it is treated as a disposal of an asset for the purposes of Capital Gains. Any loss arising within the fund will be a capital loss and can only be set against capital gains on a disposal of an interest in the fund.
More information regarding the computation of offshore income gains and the treatment of the loss can be located at IFM13550 - Offshore Funds: investors in non-reporting funds: computation of offshore income gain: losses - HMRC internal manual - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Thank you.

Claiming Mileage from a Office that has closed
Hi
Please refer to Claim tax relief for your job expenses: Vehicles you use for work - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). You cannot mileage claim expenses from home to your permanent place of work but can claim for expenses for travelling from your permanent place of work to individual sites as this is purely business expenditure.

RE: How to apply VAT on mixed goods in one package, such as Gift Baskets?
Hi.
Where you supply together a minor standard rated item with a main zero rated item you can treat the supply as a single supply of the main zero rated where the standard rated item:
•is not charged at a separate price
•costs you no more than 20% of the total cost of the supply
•costs you no more than £1 (excluding VAT)
All of the above conditions would need to be met.
