RE: Incorrect National Insurance Number (Customer Service Never Available)
Hi Sonia,
If you could send us copies of the P60s that you have with a covering letter, we’ll be able trace for any missing contributions and put them onto your National Insurance account. They will then be recorded onto your Personal Tax Account.

RE: CF83 - letter lost?
Hi Andrea,
Our International Team that deal with EU countries are currently dealing with queries received on 21 March 2023. Unfortunately, this means that there will be about a 42 week delay from the date that they received your CF83 before you receive a reply.
You may, however, wish to contact our National Insurance team to ensure that your CF83 application form has been received and they will be able to give you an approximate time for a reply.

Our International Teams are currently dealing with queries received on 21 March 2023 (for someone in an EU country) or 14 February 2023 (for someone in a country outside of the EU). So unfortunately, there will be a delay in processing your CF83 application form.

RE: UK expat living in USA - voluntary 2 NI contributions
Hi,
A request for voluntary National Insurance contributions should have been issued to you shortly after 5 April 2023 for the 2022-2023 tax year. The amount of £163.80 for the 2022-2023 tax year should be received by 5 April 2025 or the amount required may be due at a revised increased rate.
For the 2023-2024 tax year, a request for payment will be issued to you shortly after 5 April 2024.

RE: Selling online
Hi,
If you are selling your own assets, then we are looking at capital gains, where the annual exempt allowance is £6000 for the current tax year. If the gains from the assets that you dispose of are below this figure, then there is nothing to report to HMRC.
If you are buying stock to sell online, then you are trading and the turover threshold is £1000. If your turnover is over this amount, then you need to register for self assessment, as self employed.
