RE: Tax code adjustments in self-assessment
Hi,
If you have an underpayment from an earlier tax year included in your 2022 to 2023 tax code then this would need to be entered in the Self Assessment. If you are unsure if this is the case then you would need to contact our Self Assessment team to check the code.

RE: on demand tax payments
Hi,
When you make a payment to your Self Assessment account, the payment will automatically be allocated against the oldest oustanding underpayment on your account. So any payment made will automatically be allocated to your 2022 to 2023 balancing payment first until this amount is cleared, with every payment made after this going towards your first 2023 to 2024 Payment on Account. Please note, both amounts will be due by 31 January 2024.
Thank you. -
RE: Second job tax
Hi Sophie_569,
If you are effectively continuing employment at what was your main source of income until recently, we may not be able to change who is recognised as your main employer until the end of the tax year.
We may be able to allocate more of your tax free allowance to your new employer, though. You can contact our Income Tax team below and we can review your current codes.
