  • RE: proof letter/certificate

    Hi Christos Christodoulou,
If it is just proof that you are paying National Insurance contributions in the UK, that you require, you can apply for a statement of National Insurance contributions by completing form CA3916. This can be found on the gov.uk website - Get a PDU1 certificate or a National Insurance contributions statement
With regards to cancelling the other certificate that you have requested, please call the National Insurance helpline and ask them to cancel your application.
The contact number is 0300 200 3500 (+44 191 203 7010 if calling from abroad). Lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
Alternatively, you can attach a note to the CA3916 asking HMRC to cancel your application.
    Thank you.

  • RE: Voluntary contributions

    Hi Mark Brown,
Voluntary National Insurance contributions are not counted as periods of insurance for the purposes of a U1 certificate.
Therefore, the answer to your question is no, they would not be reflected on the certificate.
    Thank you.

  • RE: Employer NI Contributions for overseas staff

    Hi Ankah93 Anker,
I can confirm that the outcome of the liability decision will apply to both employee and employer National Insurance contributions (NICs).
If the decision is that the employee is not liable to UK NICs, the employer will be notified and advised to cease deducting NICs and to process a refund of any NICs paid after the liability ceased. If the decision is that the employee is liable to UK NICs, the employer will continue to deduct employee and employer NICs as normal.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Identification number of NHS institution ( to complete E104 form)

    Hi Vincentd,
From the information you have provided, it sounds like the Belgium authorities will need to request a S041 certificate from HMRC.
Please contact the authorities in Belgium and advise them to request the SO41 by completing SED S040.
    Thank you.

  • RE: PAYE and Self Employed over UEL

    Hi Rebecca Foy,
As your self employed income is over the Small Profits Threshold you may be liable for an element of Class 2 as well as Class 4 although the high Cl1 earnings will be taken into account and can reduce both Cl4 and Cl2 depending on the amount of Cl1 paid.
As we are unable to be specific on this Forum is best you call our NI helpline to discuss the account with specific information so a correct answer can be given.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Voluntary NI contributions - future years

    Hi Sharon2,
Payment requests are issued shortly after the end of the tax year so if you were accepted for annual payment you would be receiving the new payment request in the next couple of weeks.  You should also be able to see this communication via your Personnal Tax Account.
    Thank you.

    Thank you.

  • RE: U1 Form

    Hi Alessandro Magliano,
We are unable to check your personal records on this forum.
If you are struggling to speak to an advisor on the National Insurance helpline, I would advise you to complete another application.
You can apply online or by post by completing a CA3916 application which can be found here:-  Get a PDU1 certificate or a National Insurance contributions statement Please apply using the online version for a quicker response.
    Thank you.
