RE: National Insurance Refund?
Hi iain.p,
Sorry I don’t have very much information about your query but I wonder if you reached pension age after month 5 of the 2022-2023 tax year. If this is the case then your employer would have been right to deduct class 1 contributions from your salary until you reached pension age. After you reach pension age your employer should stop deducting these contributions from your salary.
If you have not reached pension age then please check with your employer as to why they stopped deducting the contributions from your salary.
Thank you. -

RE: Claiming basic rate tax relief on self-assessment
Hi sb3502,
If relief at source is not given on this payment by the pension provider, you would declare the pension payment in box 2, so that full tax relief can be given.

RE: Can I transfer my child benefit NI credits to my husband from 2006
Hi Busybee101,
It is possible to transfer Home Responsibilities Protection (HRP) and Child Benefit credits to your husband’s National Insurance account.
HRP ran until the 2009-2010 tax year so if you’d like this transferred then please complete and return our form:-
CF411 Apply for Home Responsibilities Protection .
If you’d like to transfer Child Benefit credits (which started from the 2010-2011 tax year) then please complete and return our form:-
CF411A Apply for National Insurance credits if you’re a parent or carer.
Our Team will then look at your applications and transfer the credits if appropriate.
Thank you. -
RE: Home responsibilities protection
Hi cooprinal,
For the period that you’ve advised that your mother-in-law was in receipt of Home Responsibilities Protection (HRP) I can advise that credits were not recorded on National Insurance accounts. Rather than receive credits, what happens is that for each full tax year of HRP received this reduces the number of years she needs to obtain a pension.
As you’ve advised that you have a letter to confirm that HRP is recorded on her National Insurance account, The Pension Service should have taken this into account when calculating her pension entitlement.
You may wish to call The Pension Service on 0800 731 0469 and they will be able to confirm her HRP position and how they’ve calculated her pension entitlement.
Thank you. -
