That would be for the Italian authorities to confirm if having the UK pension has any effect on his Italian pension.
What he does with the money once received is up to him but it is him who is still liable on the pension.

RE: NT code
Hi Davie260563,
Tax code changes are sent electronically to your employer, and will usually only take a few days to be received and implemented by them.
If your employer has run their payroll before they receive your tax code update, they will not have time to implament the requested changes before you receive your next pay.
The changes will therefore take effect for the pay after next.
With a code of NT, you should be refunded all tax paid so far.

Ensure that your marital status is specified on the dropdown near the start of the return.
If the transfer still is not present in your calculation, and you both still meet the criteria for Marriage Allowance

If you do not expect your earning as much in 24/25, you can reduce your payments on account down accordingly.
You can do this on your Personal Tax Account, or contact us by webchat or phone here for more advice

If, after reducing your payments on account, you find that you do earn more than you expected, you may be charged interest.

Your balancing payment for 23/24 of £2000.00 is due to be paid by the 31st of January 2025.
Your first payment on account of £1000 for 24/25 is also due to be paid by the 31st of January 2025.
Your second payment on account of £1000 is due to be paid by the 31st July 2025.
