From your original question this is in relation to interest, so nothing is actually being sold for any Capital Gains Tax to be due.
As you have made the account a joint account, any interest now added is in joint names and split 50/50.

The banks and building societies submit the untaxed interest details after the tax year end.
You will need to contact HMRC to declare your dividend income:

Once the details are received your record will be reviewed and if you underpaid your tax a calculation will be issued to you.
