RE:Combined Income, Tax and Allowance Confusion
Hi OxyJon,
If you are a higher rate tax payer then you will no longer be eligible for the marriage allowance transfer.
With your 2 sources of income it will take you into the higher rate.
At your 2nd source of income some of the tax will be due at the 40% rather than 20%.
Your 2nd source will be taxed at the BR, basic rate, code deducting tax at 20%.
As some tax due at 40% there will be a deduction in your main tax code to collect the tax at 40%.
As you are still paying tax at 20% at your main source the deduction in your code will be collect tax at 20%.
If you want to check your tax code is correct you can contact HMRC:

RE:Adjusted Net Income - pension contributions
Hi Chiara Gambi,
If your pension contributions are taken from your net pay then yes you can deduct the grossed up figure from your income.
The grossed up income will be the contributions x 1.25.
The contributions will be from 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024.
Thank you. -

RE: Bank Details for Tax Refund
Hi Shivani,
You can submt the P85 but HMRC will not be able to review until we received your final pay and tax details from your employer.
If possible we would advise leave your UK bank account open until the repayment can be processed and repaid.
If you close the bank and no nominee in the UK then a cheque will be issued to your new address overseas.
Thank you. -
