RE: Working Out Tax On Savings Interest
Hi HUMBUG,
If your other income will be over £17570 for 2024/25 then you will not be entitled to the starting rate of £5000 but would receive the personal savings allowance £1000.
Thank you. -
RE:IR35 for Sole Trader?
Hi mikee48723,
IR35 off payroll working, is designed to ensure individuals working like employees, but through their own limited company (often known as a ‘personal service company’ or ‘PSC’), or other intermediary, pay broadly the same Income Tax and National Insurance contributions (NICs) as individuals who are directly employed.
This does not affect being self employed with a foreign employer.
We cannot advise in this forum, whether your have met all of your UK tax liabilities, as we can only provide general information.
A Non UK based employer, can employ a UK resident as an non resident employee or as a sole trader.
In either case, this would be foreign income and should be decalred on a self assessment tax return.
Thank you. -
RE: Changing property probate value after two years
Hi Glenne Nelson,
As long as the whole estate is under £325k then this would be classed as not ascertained for IHT and you can use the estate agent market price.

RE:CGT tax on BTL Property
Hi Tom Hitchcock,
You can send in an appeal against the penalty giving your reasons but there is no guarantee it will be accepted.
This should be sent to:
HMRC PAYE & Self Assessment BX9 1AS.
It is likely the same charges will apply to your wife.
Guidance here:
Appeal against a penalty

RE:Savings / dividend allowances in calculating CGT basic rate band
Hi Peter Ray,
You take your pension and interest( interest over the standard savings allowance) and you are then over the personal allowance.
This excess is then deducted from the basic rate band to then set the balance against your CGT so you would not be due the full £37700 for CGT.
Thank you. -

RE:Automatically reinvested dividends: how taxed
Hi Koala Bear,
1. If the dividends are automatically reinvested by the company then you do not declare these.
2. Yes if the shares are the sold at a profit then these will be liable to capital gains.
