RE: sale of shares
Hi J G,
The disposal of any foreign assets, should be declared in a Self Assessment tax return, even if the annual exempt allowance covers any UK Capital Gains Tax liability.
Failure to submit a tax return, could result in numerous penalties, from late filing to late payment.
Please have a look here:
Penalties.
Penalties are also charged interest.
The calculator here:
Estimate your penalty for late Self Assessment tax returns and payments
Helps you to estimate penalties that Self Assessment can impose.
Thank you. -
RE: Income over 50K in Jan 2023 for Child benefit charge?
Hi,
If the pension contributions are taken from your gross income before tax is calculated then you woud not deduct them again from your income total as relief already been given.
If from your net income and when deducted takes you below £50K then you would not need to complete a Self Assessment for the Higher Rate Child Benefit Charge, HICBC.
Thank you.

RE: Working remotely from home in UK for an Indian company - how to claim relief in UK under DTAA
Hi rmathoo,
It depends on the actual UK tax that would be due on your income.
You cannot claim more Foreign Tax Credit Relief than what is the UK equivelant.
Thank you.

RE: Tax Implications During UK Residency
Hi LNG@UK,
If you qualify for split year then you only report any foreign income for the UK part of the year:
RDRM12000 - Residence: The SRT: Split year treatment: Contents.
If you do not qualify then you will need to report all your foreign income to the UK:
Tax on foreign income
The guidance at RDRM12150 at www.gov.uk will help you work out if split year treatment applies.
You would therefore need to make the decision yourself.
Thank you.
