RE: Paying my self-assessment bill; should I leave it as late as possible?
Hi
We only ask that you pay the amount due by the due date.

RE: UK or Spain CGT
Hi
As the apartment is 'immoveable property', Spain has the right to tax you on any gains from the disposal of the asset.
As you will be in receipt of a foreign gain, you meet the criteria to submit a self assessment tax return.
You would declare the gain on SA108 (capital gains) and if foreign tax was paid, you would also declare it on SA106 (foreign) so that you can claim a foreign tax credit for the tax paid in Spain, so that you avoid double taxation.
Thankyou. -
RE: How to account for Stock taken for own use
Hi
If you are completing a paper SA103S, you would enter the cost of goods used in box 11 of SES1.
If you are completing SA103F please show the costs in box 60 on page SEF3.
The online box will be named "goods and services for your own use".
You would enter the cost price of the goods used for personal use, not the selling price. -
RE: Receiving deposit payments n one tax year for work in another
Hi
Traditional accounting practice, uses the arising basis, so the income would be taxable in the tax year that you invoice your client.
The cash basis method is applied to money coming and going out, so the amount paid in 22/23, would be taxed in 22/23 and the amount paid in 23/24 taxed in 23/24.
Thankyou.

RE: Capital Gains Tax Refund
Hi
The repayment has to be done manually as the 2 systems are not linked.
If you were not asked for bank details on the chat, please contact us again for this to be escalated.
If the tax was paid withn the 60 days, no penalty should have been charged.
Thankyou. -
RE: Split year treatment
Hi Sunsun Hung
1. You do not report the income prior to coming to the UK
2. The interest should be reported in the 23/24 tax year and it will be the full amount of interest that you receive.
Thankyou. -
RE: Self Assessment Tax Due Calculation - does not include tax already paid in relevant tax year
Hi
If you are entering PAYE income on the return you also need to ensure that the PAYE tax already deducted has been included.
Thankyou. -
RE: Overseas maintenance
Hi
No, this is not classed as taxable income.
Thankyou. -
RE: Payment on Account question
Hi
You don't include payments on account paid on the return.
When the calculation informs you of the total amount due for 22/23 you deduct the payments you have already made from that figure.
Thankyou.
