RE: TOR1 Rejection Reason
Hi Sanjay Hari
If you are not eligible for TOR relief, you can check to see if returned goods relief is applicable since you are returning the goods to UK.
Pay less import duty and VAT when re-importing goods to the UK.
Thank you

RE: Bought a large expensive personalised item do I need a eori number
Hi Vartet202Carter
Thanks Customs oldtimer for your helpful post.
Usually the shipping company handles the customs declarations and charges.
You’ll be contacted by Royal Mail, Parcelforce or the courier company if you need to pay any VAT, duty or delivery charges (‘handling fees’) to receive your goods.
They’ll send you a bill stating exactly which fees you need to pay.
A parcel would normally be held by them for about 3 weeks. If you have not paid the bill by then, your parcel will be returned to the sender.
You do not need an EORI number if you’re moving goods that are both:
• not controlled goods
• for personal use only
Thank you

RE: Clarification of £135 Import Rules For Consumers
Hi David Phillips
Thanks Customs oldtimer for your helpful post.
HMRC would advise that you contact UPS to check what value was declared on import declaration.
You will not have to pay anything to the delivery company to receive goods worth less than £135 unless they are gifts over £39 or excise goods (for example, alcohol and tobacco).
More guidance is available at:
Tax and customs for goods sent from abroad: Tax and duty
You can claim for a repayment if you’ve overpaid import duty and VAT:
How to claim a repayment of import duty and VAT if you've overpaid

RE: R&D claim severe delay & no response
Hi AdamSmithSMS
Please see the information at the top of this page confirming that the forum cannot progress chase R&D claims,
All contact details are contained there.
You will need to contact via email rd.incentivesreliefs@hmrc.gov.uk to progress chase your claim if RDTC. This can only be progress chased via email, you will need to contact the mailbox and advise you have received no progress update/repayment/information from your claim.
Full details can be found at CIRD80350 - R&D tax relief: introduction: R&D Compliance contact details - HMRC internal manual.
If your R&D claim is for RDEE (Enhanced expenditure) only and out of timescale, this can be progress chased via the options available at Corporation Tax: general enquiries where an advisor will escalate your query to a technical officer to review.
However, this does not include RDTC or RDEC.
Thank you

RE: UK tax resident with company in Dubai
Hi Missb1985
Companies will pay tax in the UK if they are UK resident. Please see guidance on UK residence at: INTM120030 - Company residence: overview - HMRC internal manual.
Companies which are not UK resident may still be chargeable to Corporation Tax if they fall into any of the categories at Corporation Tax for non-UK incorporated companies if they have a fixed place of business in the UK.
Thank you
