For your question guidance is available at Expenses if you're self-employed: Overview in the section “Costs you can claim as an allowable expense”.
The vertical column at the bottom of allowable expenses states “You cannot claim expenses if you use your Tax-free allowances on property and trading income”.

RE: D0 tax code
Hi Mybrotherthecow
The code number applied will be based on an estimate of your income expected to be received up to 05 April 2025.
It may be based on your ex-employer’s cessation details not being received before the notification of your early retirement pension being paid.
You can request changes to your tax code by using the options available through Income Tax: general enquiries including requesting that the correct code be issued to your pension provider.
You can also find out information, along with progress of your form/letter/request and changes to your tax code at:
• your personal tax account
• the official HMRC app
