Hi sorry for such a basic question but needs must. I am a cis registered sub contractor doing my own self assessment. for the previous year i worked for one contractor self employed. under tailoring your return, page 1, i have answered NO to "Were you an employee (or director or office holder) or agency worker in the year to 5 April 2023?" ( i did this because i dont think i am considered an employee. if this isn't right let me know) my issue is this (if i didn't get the above part wrong): How many self-employed businesses did you have? i have chosen one. this implies i had a business, which has lead to the confusion. i have said 1 business and under business name, put my own name and not the contractor's business name which i worked for, which name should be used?? if i do no put my bosses business name here, then as far as i can see, there is no reference to his business whatsoever, which seems a little strange to me. so that's it basically, will everything be fine if i put my own name. cheers

Hi word2mother,

If you are a subcontractor the business name would be your name unless you trade as a specific name.

Thank you.
