Hello HMRC, On April 6th 2022 (the start day of the tax year), I left permanently the UK to go back to The Netherlands (where I am from). For the tax year 2022-2023, I have not received any UK income and am considered non-resident. Since I don't have any tax to declare, I also don't need to claim remittance. Does this mean I still have to fill in SA100 and SA109 or can I request removal from HMRC self assessment for this (and future) tax years? I can't file a P85, as I had to use self assessment in 2021-2022 as my income was over 100k pounds. Thanks, Tim

Hi,

You will need to check whether a tax return is still required, by using the tool below.

Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return

If the tool confirms that you do not need to complete a Self Assessment Tax Return for 2022 to 2023 onwards, please contact the HMRC Self Assessment team and advise the date you left the UK and the results of the tax return checker for 2022 to 2023 tax year onwards. If no tax returns are required for 2022 to 2023 onwards, your record can be closed from the telephone call.
