In past years I have claimed the tax back on my fuel spent on business mileage for my own car for which I also get a car allowance. I complete some 30k plus business miles in a normal tax year and every year I have had my tax back. I claim 55p first 10k and 35p there after per mile as directed by HMRC. Last year I did the same as every year but received nothin back, nothing has changed in my situation so I'm wondering why before I submit my next claim and get nothing in return. Anyone any idea before I go through the same pain again, any guidance or assistance would be greatly received. Thanks in advance PJ.

Hi,

If you make the claim every year, HMRC may have carried the amount forward into your tax code which would have resulted in you paying less tax through the year rather than being due a refund at the end.

Thank you.
