We have used the same accountant for the last 7 years for my partners self assessment returns without any issues. However this year, she collected the paperwork in May and as of now we don't think the self-assessment has been submitted. We only have a telephone number for her and she is no longer responding to calls, texts, WhatsApp messages. In September she requested a copy of his Driving licence and Passport as she said she needed these to submit the returns - although no-one else seems to think this is necessary, then we couldn't get in touch with her gain. In October she finally responded to another message saying she was doing a final check before submitting, but since then, despite almost daily calls/texts, etc, nothing! I'm in the process of getting his Gateway account changed so we can access, currently the access code goes to her, so that we can go in and see if she has submitted and not told us. But if she hasn't I'm not sure what we can do, any advice would be gratefully received......

Hi,

If the return has not been submitted you may need to consider if you are going to submit the tax return using the online account when you have access. Agents should be using their own online account and would not need too see a copy of a Driving License or Passport to do this.

Thank you.
