RE: Information provided on Form SO41
Hi,
The periods shown on a S041 certificate (which is a reply to a S040) relate to periods of Insurance (where NICs have been paid), or periods of residency in the UK, not the periods when someone has had a valid NHS number. However, without sight your personal certificate, we are unable to answer specifics on this forum.
Please contact the National Insurance team and we can check your records, and answer any further queries you may have.

RE: Backdating Child Benefit Class 3 credits
Hi,
If you have not received child benefit for previous periods, you do not receive the associated class 3 national insurance credits that are awarded with them. You have the option to pay voluntary national insurance for any tax years you have a shortfall.

RE: Voluntary NI contributions - future years
Hi,
You can check the timescales for the CF83 application below depending on your overseas location.
Check when you can expect a reply from HMRC
The class 3 letters received are voluntary with the option to complete the tax years but that is depending on your current circumstances.
A personal tax account has the web chat services so they can look into your query if you are unable to contact the helpline.

RE: payment of tax and how to claim back the overpaid tax after selling of the property
Hi,
Your liability for 2023 to 2024 was £1744.60. Payments on account (POAs) were set at half of this £872.30, so the payment due at 31 Jan 2-25 would be £1744.60 + 872.30 (£2626.90) and 31 July 2024 £872.30. In this way you have paid £872.30+872.30 = £1744.60 for 2024 to 2025 in advance of the end of the tax year.
The POAs are initially set at half of the previous tax years liability. They can go up or down as your circumstances change and ideally, will collect all of the tax due.
If you dispose of the property during the year, then your income will be less, and your payments on account will reduce. You will need to work this out yourself.
Please have a look at the guidance on payments on account below, which will explain how payments on account arise.
Understand your Self Assessment tax bill
If you dispose of the property, as a non UK resident, you will need to declare the disposal within 60 days of the completion date.
As you can submit your tax return online, you can use your government gateway user ID and password to report and pay any capital gains tax payable at:
Tax when you sell property
There is also a calulator there to help work out if a gain arises.
If you no longer meet the critieria for completing a self assessment tax return, you should notify HMRC, so that your self assessment record can be closed.
Thank you. -
RE: Self Assessment refund delays
Hi jackjosh9,
Apologies for the delay in the repayment being issued. If selected for security checks then we need to allow the department dealing with the checks to complete these. As you have submitted a complaint then this will be reviewed and you will be contacted.
