  • RE: I was on the BR tax code for 5 years from the year 2000

    Hi,
If you could send us copies of your P60s or the final payslip for the tax years involved then we’ll be able to trace for any contributions that were deducted from your salary and arrange for them to be recorded onto your National Insurance account.
Please send the copies with a covering letter to:
    HM Revenue & Customs
    PT Operations North East England
    BX9 1AN
    United Kingdom
    Thank you.
  • RE: Request for Direct Debit Option for National Insurance Contributions

    Hi,
If your circumstances have not changed since you first applied to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions (NICs), the class of NICs will not change following your request to change your method of payment from an annual payment to direct debit.
If any of your circumstances have changed which would affect your eligibility to pay voluntary NICs at the class 2 rate, for example if you are no longer employed or self-employed abroad, or you no longer meet the criteria shown in the NI38 - Social Security abroad: NI38) you should contact HMRC to inform them of your change in circumstances.
With regards to making a payment via bank transfer using the reference number you have quoted in your query, this is for payment of previous tax years, and it is not an option for future ongoing payments.
For future tax years, you can either pay by Annual payment or monthly/6 monthly direct debit.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to receive a digital letter for an annual payment.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Payment processing / online record

    Hi,
Sorry that your payment of Voluntary National Insurance contributions is not yet recorded on your Personal Tax Account.
It can take up to 8 weeks for your payment to be recorded on your Personal Tax Account so may I ask that you call our National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 (from the UK)
or +44 191 2037010 (from overseas) and they will be able to check that your payment is recorded and will arrange for it to be allocated.
If you could have your payment details handy when you call then this would be helpful.
I can confirm that even if you may pay the voluntary class 2 contributions, your Personal Tax Account will always quote any shortfall at the voluntary class 3 rate.
If you wish to make any further payments of voluntary contributions then please use the rates detailed in the letter.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Uk pensioner needs A1 form for Croatian authorities

    Hi,
If the CA3822 has been completed, but sent without a covering letter, then it will possibly be rejected based on the information provided.
The application form more suited to your circumstances would be the CA8421, this application covers a number of different circumstances, and in some
cases allows you to complete without a UK employer.
    Thank you.
  • RE: CA8454 Healthcare entitlement document

    Hi Nicholas,
The application process for the S1 has recently changed.
Now to receive the S1, you must also apply for the A1.
You would then receive both certificates at the same time.
Without knowing your circumstances I am unable to advise which application you will need to complete, but the following link should help you further:
Are you currently living abroad? – Guidance – GOV.UK (tax.service.gov.uk)
When it asks why you need a certificate you should say ‘working abroad’ rather than healthcare,
    Thank you.

  • RE: Moving abroad - state pension

    Hi,
Your first step would be to request a pension forecast from the Department of Work and Pensions – Check your State Pension forecast
Once you have received your forecast, you can then decide if you want to apply to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions.
If you do, you will need to read the information held on the NI38 and complete the CF83 application form. Both can be found here - Social Security abroad: NI38
Further information on the eligibility of being entitled to a state pension can be found here - The new State Pension Eligibility
This states that a minimum of 10 qualifying years is required and how a qualifying year can be achieved i.e. by paying National Insurance contributions from employment/self-employment, being in receipt of National Insurance credits, or by paying voluntary National Insurance contributions.
The National Insurance contributions that you have already paid whilst working in the UK will remain on your UK records regardless of your eligibility for a State Pension.
Further information on who pays National Insurance contributions can be found here - National Insurance: introduction: Overview
With regards to your final question, you will need to speak to the Department for Work and Pensions with this query. Their contact number is +44 (0) 191 2187777.
Lines are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
    Thank you.
  • RE: CF83 Questions

    Hi villager 1332,
Your answer should reflect the situation while you were still employed by that employer.
    Thank you.

  • RE: How do I pay voluntary Class 2 contributions to fill gaps in my NI record (property business)

You will need to register to pay Class 2 NICs voluntarily.
This can be done on line – Pay Class 2 National Insurance if you do not pay through Self Assessment or by calling the NI helpline on 0300 200 3500.
Lines are open 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
    Thank you.
