RE: Split-year Treatment - Only report incomes arisen during the residential period in UK
Hi KuenHK,
If you qualify for split year then you only report any foreign income for the UK part of the year RDRM12000 - Residence: The SRT: Split year treatment: Contents.
If you do not qualify then you will need to report all your foreign income to the UK Tax on foreign income.
The guidance at RDRM12150 will help you work out if split year treatment applies.

RE: Calculate tax on interest / dividend earned from bond funds
Hi edwardchusing,
Different rates apply for overseas interest and dividends and you have not provided enough information for HMRC to confirm what type of income that you have.
You do not need to provide evidence with your tax return.
Thank you. -

Hi George Keane,
Once a cheque has been issued we can't issue a replacement by any other method. We can also only send repayments to UK bank accounts.

RE: RSUs and ESPP
Hi Hazel Henery,
Due to the date purchased/received, it is likely that Capital Gains will apply as you have held on to them after they vested.
For a valuation from that period, please refer to Shares and assets valuations for tax

Hi CIG1 Grant,
We are unable to comment on future events as legislation may change.
Based on current legislation, he would need to apply to have the pension paid tax free by submitting a double taxation exemption claim.

RE: QROPS - Tax liability on lumpsum and regular pension
Hi TaxFinZero,
Under PTM112010 - International: qualifying recognised overseas pension schemes (QROPS): introduction it states that any payment is taxable and doesn't
mention the 25% tax free lump sum.
You may therefore want to contact the pension scheme services helpline on 0300 123 1079

RE: Joint Account of Overseas Bank - How to report on Foreign Income with No Share at all
Hi KuenHK,
As it is a joint account, it would normally be split 50/50 for any interest that is received. you would therefore need to submit a declaration of trust to show that all interest is attributed to your father and your share is 0. Once this is done, you then do not need to report any foreign interest for that account. You would need to report it for previous years if you were UK resident and domicile.
Thank you. -
