RE: Mechanism for paying class 2 NI contributions from abroad
Hi yorkieblue77,
Yes, when we receive payments, we work these in date order,.
Our caseworkers are notified when a payment has reached an account, and they work from this notice.
Yes, the current timescales that we give for payment allocation are typically applied from the date the payment was received, sometimes the notice can take a few days to be generated and therefore may not match the date your payment was received exactly.
Thank you.

RE: Class 2 Voluntary NICS Shortfall Penalty Amount
Hi Jurij,
After the date without penalty has passed the amount could be increased to reflect the current tax years weekly rate.
As this is subject to change at the beginning of each tax year, we can not disclose what this figure will be on the INSL33 that you would have received. If you intend to make a payment after the payment date without penalty and before the final date payment can be made, you need to contact National Insurance to receive the correct amount.
You can call them on 0300 200 3500 if calling from the UK or +44 191 203 7010 if calling from abroad.

RE: Paid Voluntary NI contributions - How long is updating of the online NI records taking?
Hi SingSling Singer,
I am afraid our processing times change constantly in line with the volume of work received and how our staff are deployed.
We are trying to prioritise the allocation of all payments.
If you have had confirmation that we have received your payment, it will be allocated as soon as we are able to.
Thank you.

RE: Contracted out
Hi Shell190 Younger
When you have been contracted out of the State Earnings Related Pension Scheme (SERPS) some of your National
Insurance contributions were either.
• lower than people who were not contracted out
• paid into another pension, for example a workplace or private pension
When you are contracted out of the state pension you may need more qualifying tax years
than the standard 35 years to get a full state pension.
If you wish to check your State Pension position you can get information about your State
Pension entitlement from the Pensions and Retirement Planning section at www. gov.uk

If you do not have access to the Internet, you can phone the Future Pension Centre on 0800 731 0175 +44 191 218 3600.
