  • RE:PSA

    Hi John298 Wood,
Generally, we are notified of the amount of interest you receive from Banks or Building Socities each year.
This, however, in itself would not trigger the issue of a new PAYE code for the current tax year.
For your own records, certainly no harm in writing to us informing us of the total amount of bank interest received for 2023/2024 plus an estimate for the current year.
If your estimated interest for the current tax year was more than £1,000 then this would generate a new PAYE tax code for the current year 2024/2025.
    Thank you.
  • RE:Help to Buy ISA and Cash ISA

    Hi George Baker-Jewell,
    You have done nothing wrong.
You can open a new cash ISA every year if you want to, but you can only open 1 lifetime ISA.
    Please have a look here:
    Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs)
    Thank you.

  • RE: Tax on Savings Interest

    Hi Heraclitus
The banks and building societies submit the untaxed interest details to HMRC after the tax year end.
Once received we will review the tax year and if underpaid a calculation will be issued with the details.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Home responsibilities protection

    Hi MARK HARTNELL,
If your wife has been refused HRP the letter had a mandatory reconsideration option to reply within 30 days.
If you have any supporting evidence of child benefit payments made for the period in question please ensure that documentation is sent into HMRC.
    Thank you.

  • RE:Ineligible for Class 2 because of raising a young child before leaving the UK ?

    Hi jessie79 Woodward,
Unfortunately, without looking at your National Insurance records we are unable to confirm whether you would be eligible to pay voluntary Class 2 National Insurance contributions overseas or not.
There are many different factors that need to be considered, and although you may not have been working in the UK immediately prior to leaving, this does not mean that you definitely wouldn’t be eligible to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions at the Class 2 rate.
To find out if you are eligible, please complete the CF83 application form
Apply to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions when abroad (CF83)
    Thank you.
  • RE: Home responsibilities protection

    Hi alig6 Graham,
Documentation for Child Benefit if it has been retained can be used to complete the date or when the payments will have commenced from when HRP came in from at least 06/04/1978.
If you think you received the payments, please put the date that applies on the form.
    Thank you.

  • RE:Specified Adult Childcare Credits

    Hi HGOLDTHORPE,
The Department for work and Pension (DWP) may have advised you that older years may not increase your pension as you are over State Pension age, the years 2011/12 to 2015/15 if you have obtained a pensions forecast.
If you contact DWP they should explain this for you as HMRC only applies the credits for the tax years in question.
