RE:Higher Rate Gift Aid Already Claimed
Hi lau04118,
If the repayment of gift aid, relates to gifts arising in the tax year for your Self Assessment tax return, you would need to include the repayment in box 1 of page TR6.
If the repayments of gift aid relate to earlier tax year, then they are not declared in the tax return.
Thank you.

RE:P85 - Online Claim - Bank Account Details not accepted by portal
Hi nilb777,
The Pay As You Earn service does not automatically send overpayments to your bank account.
The service holds the overpayment, so that you can log into your personal tax account and enter your bank account details, to claim the repayment. After approximately 6 weeks, a payable order will be printed and posted to you are the address we have on record.
You can opt to nominated a trusted person to receive the payment on your behalf, in which case, a payable order will be addressed to them, so that they can cash it for your and send you the money.
Payable orders can only be cashed in a UK bank or Building society.

RE:CGT liability in Property Sale
Hi longini10 Long,
To work out the Capital Gains Tax you will require two calculation.
The first is your share of the property.
You would need to obtain the cost of the property at time of acquisition and the disposal value, including acquisition and disposal costs.
All of these should be split based on your proportion of the property.
The calculator here will help you do this:
Tax when you sell property
The second calculation is the market value of the property, when you inherited your brother's share and his share of the disposal value.
Both gains can then be added together.
Guidance for allowable costs can be found here:
CG15250 - Expenditure: incidental costs of acquisition and disposal

RE:No self assessment in personal tax account
Hi robben,
1. If your father has a UTR then there should be a Self Assessment tab on his personal tax account to view.
If not available he would need to contact our online helpdesk as might have another online account which is linked to his Self Assessment. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/online-services-helpdesk
2.This will be based on his PAYE account and if no details as yet the system will upadate in due course.
3.When you contact our online helpdesk they can check if another record set up and advise.

RE:Is this roof replacement deductible?
Hi Peter Montgomery,
A roof repair is normally regarded as a revenue expense that can be deducted in computing property business profits.
Please refer to PIM2025 for more information on the distinction between 'restoration of an asset' (the cost of which can be deducted from rental income) and significant improvement of an asset beyond its original condition (the cost of which can be regarded as capital expenditure, deductible from a capital gain).
