RE:High Income Child Benefit Charge - salary changed through year
Hi chrisp1986,
To confirm the amount of Child Benefit received, you can contact the Child Benefit department by webchat or phone, via
Child Benefit: general enquiries
As long as your 22/23 tax return is filed by the 31st of January 2024, there will be no late filing penalty.
If you have sufficient PAYE income, you can opt to pay your outstanding amount through your 24/25 tax code.
If this is not possible, we may be able to set up a repayment plan instead.
Please contact our Debt Managament team on 0300 200 3820 to discuss your options.
Thank you.

RE:Marriage Tax Allowance
Hi dragnil,
The company has given you an exceptionally muddled explanation of the Marriage Allowance transfer scheme.
Basically, if two taxpayers are married or in a civil partnership, and one taxpayer has 10% of their tax-free allowance unused, they can opt to transfer this 10% to their partner.
If the partner receives this transfer during the tax year, the partner’s code is updated and they pay less tax on their regular wage; if they receive it after the tax year is over, their tax liability for that year is recalculated with the extra allowances, and a refund cheque is sent to the partner.
Taxpayers can request this transfer of allowances be applied for up to four years previous.
In a year where the tax-free allowances are set at £12570, for example, £1257 of allowances will usually be transferred to the recipient.
This usually equates to a refund of around £250.
No transfer is allowed is the recipient is a higher rate taxpayer.
If you’d like any more information on the transfer of allowances and whether you can apply, or if you’d like to discuss the 3rd party company who contacted you, please contact us via:

Thank you.

RE:Salary Sacrifice on Low Emission Cars
Hi Oakdene,
If salary is sacrificed in return for a company car you will pay Income Tax on either the amount of salary you sacrifice or the value of the car, whichever is the greater.
Thank you. -
RE:National Insurance + student loan when employed and self-employed
Hi isaacpalmer1992,
The comment on the bottom of the calculation is a generic one to cover all ranges of liability.
As your main income is from PAYE, any NI is covered by this and you won't have extra to pay based on the level of your self employment income. Student Loan charges only applies if you have one of these that you still need to pay back.
Thank you. -

Hi rajesh purohit,
If the pay and tax figures submitted were incorrect then the previous employer will need to submit the amended figures to update your record.
If they have refused to do this you will need to write to HMRC with the details to review with evidence of the amended payment.
