RE:Question on the Split Year Income
Hi TC_UK,
HMRC cannot advise you on this as this is for you to determine based on the guidance available.
If you qualify for split year then you only report any foreign income for the UK part of the year:
RDRM12000 - Residence: The SRT: Split year treatment: Contents
If you do not qualify then you will need to report all your foreign income to the UK:
Tax on foreign income
The guidance at RDRM12150 at www.gov.uk will help you work out if split year treatment applies.
Thank you.

RE: Owe 2638 tax that will come out of 24/25 PAYE tax code
Hi Dyognes7256,
If we are collecting £309 in your current code, we make an adjustment in your tax code to collect this based on the tax band.
In this case you will be a higher rate taxpayer in Scotland so the tax restriction will be calculated at 42%.
The restriction is 737 which we will collect tax on at 42% so we collect £309.
If you think your tax code is incorrect you can contact HMRC so we can review this for you.
Self Assessment: general enquiries
Thank you.

RE:Reclaiming VAT on Etsy Seller Fees?
Hi fewleh,
The commission charged by Etsy was correctly charged due to to Etsy believing that you were not in business, hence the charge of VAT.
As you stated the VAT should have been subject to the reverse charge.
I would recommend contacting the marketplace and confirm that you were VAT registered during the time they were charging you VAT on the commission.
Although they are not obliged to amend the invoice they can amend this and subject the invoice to a reverse charge transaction which you can then use to submit your VAT return.
However if the marketplace refuse to amend the invoice then you would not be able to recover the VAT as input tax as it has been incorrectly charged to you.
Please see the guidance below
Place of supply of services (VAT Notice 741A)
Thank you.
