RE: Which certificate for proving payment of NI when working remotely for foreign company?
Hi,
You will require a liability decision from HMRC.
If there are no UK operations registered for the company, you may be required to register for self-assessment or pay as you earn for national insurance only depending on the decision.
Please write to:
PT Operations North East England
HM Revenue and Customs,
BX9 1AN
We require the following details,
Full name
National Insurance Number
Date of birth
Date you left the UK – (if applicable)
Your most recent UK address
Your address abroad – (if applicable)
The type of work you do
The company name and address – UK and abroad
Where your contract is held
How often you work in the UK
Your normal working pattern (the days, weeks or months you regularly work)
Thank you. -
RE: what kind of document do I need to prove that I pay in the UK National Health Insurance (NHS)
Hi,
The foreign institution can request a S041 from the UK authorities on your behalf, this will depend on the UK’s withdrawal agreement from the European Union. They submit form SED S040.
If they are unable to request this and have advised you, then you can obtain your own record of national insurance via form CA3916.
Get a PDU1 certificate or a National Insurance contributions statement
Thank you. -
RE: NI voluntary class 2 paid in May 2024, no update yet?
Hi,
We apologise for the time it is taking for your payment to be actioned and posted to your record.
If you haven’t already we would advise you to contact our helpline where we can give you a more precise reason as to why your payment is taking a while to be allocated.
If you are within 6 months of State pension age or if a voluntary payment not being allocated is effecting you from claiming a benefit,
We have a fast track procedure that might interest you if you fall into that category.

RE: NI credit for years in Canada 🇨🇦
Hi,
Reciprocal agreements between counties are considered when you go to claim your UK state pension, there are no credits applied but they are taken into account.
Please contact the International Pension Centre at the Department for Work and Pensions to discuss the tax years involved for when the agreement commenced. If the years involved are not considered, you may have the option to increase your UK state pension that they will also advise you on.
Number - +44 (0) 191 218 7777
Open - 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, closed bank holidays and weekends
Thank you -
RE: Can I transfer my child benefit NI credits to my husband from 2006
Hi,
The NI credits associated with a claim to Child Benefit can only be transferred to your spouse to be credited to the same year.
So in the specific scenario you describe, 2013-14 NI credits can only be transferred from you to your spouse and noted on their record for 2013-14 and not for a later or earlier year.
If, using the same example, your spouse did not have a gap in the 2013-14 year, we would not transfer the credits from your NI record
Thank you
