Re:UK Income bank transfer to Hong Kong Bank
Hi,
If you have already paid tax on the UK income used to convert to HKD and transferred to the Hong Kong bank account, then no further tax is due on this income.
The savings in your Hong Kong account arising before you moved the UK, will not be taxable in the UK.
Thank you. -
Re:Can send SA109 paper together with online submission for self assessment Foreign income?
Hi,
The correct process for submitting a self assessment tax return each year, is that the entire tax return should be submitted in the same format at the same time. Either all on paper or all online.
To do so online requires that you buy a commercial tax return and use your government gateway user ID and password to submit the form. You cannot submit online without a government gateway user ID and password:

Re:Potential Overpayment of PAYE Tax
Hi,
If you do not complete a Self Assessment then HMRC will review your records once we receive your PAYE income details.
Once reviewed if overpaid a calculation will be issued to you with the details and how to claim.
Thank you. -
Re:Claiming tax back following redundancy
Hi,
There is not anything you can do to speed up the review as HMRC will review your record automatically once we receive your PAYE income details.
If you were in receipt of taxable benefits from your employer in 2023/24 this information is submitted on a form P11d with the deadline date 6 July.
Thank you. -
Re:Payroll BIK and tax codes
Hi,
You're correct - please inform your employer that your payrolled benefits are still present in your tax code, as they may not have updated their own payroll systems correctly.
If the benefit remains present in your code after this, contact us by webchat or phone via:
Income Tax: general enquiries and we can review your code.

Re:Is Self Assessment tax return required?
Hi,
As you earn over £50,000 before adjusted net income is calculated, and receive Child Benefit, you will need to complete a Self Assessment return.
Include the stated amount of one-off pension contributions in that return, and send the letter including evidence of the contribution.

Re: Second Job
Hi,
No, you will need to contact us directly to discuss if you are able to switch your primary and secondary employers - your employer will need to receive formal communication from HMRC to make the required adjustments to your employment status and tax code with them.

Re:Payment on Account not reflected
Hi,
As the 2nd payment on account is not due until 31 July 2024 the payment will show as a credit and will be allocated closer to the due date.
Thank you.
