We have a query from 2021 from Lithuanian Customs to Exporter . They will not accept C88 as a proof of delivery , even though all relevant UK Import duties are paid .Is Cleared C88 not proof enough of import ? Do we need to give the Lithuanian Authority the CMR complete or a staement from the importer that goods were recieved with reference to the relevant C88?

Hi
I would advise asked Lithuanian customs what they require in order to prove of delivery .
Thankyou.

They might be after an E2 document, rather than C88. In 2021 import declarations were still processed in CHIEF, therefore the term "cleared C88" did not exist at the time. A C88 used to show the details entered into a declaration and was not confirmation that the goods were cleared for Customs. A signed CMR, a paid invoice, an importer's statement confirming receipt of the goods could also support the case as alternative evidence of imports, although not as strong as an E2.

thanks L M you are right it is actually an E2 accepted status document we provided , which Lithuanian Customs are not accepting as proof of delivery , so we will use one of your other suggestions to prove delivery . Thanks
