Self assessment tax refund

I sent my request for payment for my tax refund on 6 Feb. The confirmation states HMRC aim to issue repayment in 2 weeks. It is now 4 weeks since the submission request. When will I receive the payment?

Some repayments can be stopped for additional security checks and we aim to clear those within 6 weeks where possible, please contact us if you have not received anything within 6 weeks.

Same with me. I completed a self assessment refund online since Nov last year, after checking my account few days later the money was still showing in my account as if it was never requested. I have requested severally since and same thing happened. Unable to get through to anyone at hmrc. Could someone explain to me what is going on please

I completed my tax return last July and requested a refund. Nothing - I then thought that they weren't issued until after 31 Jan so I waited and claimed again in Feb. Still waiting and can't get through on the phone - get cut off every time.

If the refund hasn't been issued there may be something stopping this happening. You will need to try our Self Assessment team again or write to us.

It is 6 weeks since I requested my tax refund and still no refund into my account! Not sure what to do now?

If you have an online account, you can view if there is a repayment available.
If you are unable to request the refund online you will need to contact our helpline again.

I've submitted mine probably 10 times, beginning in early November. I get the same "payment within 2 weeks" message each time, and then nothing happens.

Calling isn't an option that works, so I suppose we need to write a letter?

I finally spoke to HMRC last week. I did have to hold for 45 minutes but spoke to someone. I needed to answer some 'security' questions for the refund to be released. It does seem odd that HMRC require this, and the HMRC person did say there was a glitch in the system!! However, all done and refund came through within 5 days.
