RE: Foreign tax credit relief
Hi kharris68,
You do not have to do the working sheet, if you file online you would normally enter the credit yourself as there will be no manual interevention.
If you do not include it, you will need to phone to have the return amended.
Thank you. -
RE: Salary sacrifice tax free allowance pension contribution limit above earned income?
Hi,
You employer would still need to leave you with a salary so they would not be able to deduct more than you earn.

RE: Directors NI - Alternative Method
Hi,
A negative value on your payroll software does not necessarily mean a refund is due.
Rather, it is more likely reporting a reduction to the in-year liabiity for National Insurance.
Consequently, you would reduce your payments to us where there is an ongoing employer liability.
However, this is most commonly seen for directors, who are entitled to a different calculation method.
The question seems to indicate this is for an ordinary employee, this would not normally be the case, unless perhaps an incorrect NIC category letter was being used.
It is probably best that you speak with us so we can get the full picture.
Please call the Employer Help Line on 03002003200.
Thank you. -
RE: NI Class 2 Voluntary contributions from Overseas - acceptance criteria
Hi,
Claiming unemployment benefits will be taken into consideration when your application is processed, therefore this would not automatically disqualify you from being eligible to pay voluntary National Insurance contributions at the class 2 rate.
Thank you.
