RE: Incorrect National Insurance Number
Hi Selinminsu,
Without any details I can’t check to see exactly who has been dealing with the case so this is general advice re complaints.
Complain about HMRC is the best place to start, it has the online form which is submitted directly to HMRC and is sorted to the area involved. Alternatively there’s information how to complain by phone or by post Make a complaint about HMRC

Hi Alan,
If you reach state pension age before your application for Specified Adult Childcare credits, and you are subsequently awarded the credits, the payment will be backdated to the date you reach state pension age.

RE: State Pension Contributions Living Abroad
Hi Paul MacDonnell,
The deadline for paying the older years of voluntary contributions has been extended to the 31st of July for both UK and overseas customers.
As long as your application is received before that date we will action it.
Thank you. -
RE: Paid Voluntary NI contributions - How long is updating of the online NI records taking?
Hi Roger C,
It usually takes up to 8 weeks for your account to be updated after the payment of voluntary National Insurance contributions, however it may currently be taking longer, due to the increase in requests.
Once your account is updated your pension will be backdated to the date your payment was made.
I am sorry for your frustration whilst dealing with both HMRC and DWP. HMRC can only advise what National Insurance is missing, we do not know whether it will be of a benefit to you to pay the missing contributions, this is why we ask that you confirm this with DWP before making any payments.
Thank you. -
RE: BNO
Hi ec1123,
The pension from Hong Kong is only taxable there and should not be declared on your return.
You will declare your dividends and any interest and anything above the allowances will then be used against your personal allowance if you have no other income to declare.
For private residence relief, refer to Private Residence Relief (Self Assessment helpsheet HS283)
Thank you. -
RE: Second Job
Hi carol,
If this is reported as an employment then you will not need to take any action.

RE: State Pension Contributions Living Abroad
Hi FlashHermann,
When you are claiming child benefit in the UK your account is normally credited, therefore it wouldn’t be worth paying voluntary National Insurance contributions.
In order to determine whether the years already count towards your state pension you should sign into your personal tax account, or contact DWP or HMRC directly.
