RE:Interest on personal savings - banks automatically report to HMRC
Hi Katherine Trail,
Yes, the banks and building societies submit the untaxed interest details to HMRC after the tax year end.
Once received we will amend your tax code code and review the tax year and if underpaid a calculation will be issued with the details.
Thank you.

RE:Savings Interest Reducing Personal Allowance
Hi Kate G,
In your case, as you are below the tax threshold when you take into account your PAYE income plus the untaxed interest the interest is showing in the code but you will still not pay tax.
If your income increased and you needed to use your personal savings allowance the tax code would be amended to then include this.
Thank you. -
RE: Explaining relation of tax adjustment to tax owed
Hi SARA Harrak,
If you have more than one PAYE source and between the sources you pay tax at the higher rate of tax, then an adjustment is made in the main tax code to collect the tax due at the higher rate.
If you want to review further you will need to contact HMRC to access/review your code:

RE:Self assessment payments for next year
Hi mqauder,
If you submit your return before the outstanding Payments on Account for that year have become due and been paid, our system will ask you for the 'balancing payment', which is the total amount due for the year, minus the two Payments on Account.
These two Payments on Account will still be due, and will be asked for seperately.
If you would like us to review your statement to confirm that you aren't being charged twice, contact us by webchat or phone here:
