  • RE:Adding company car online

    Hi Thomas Martin,
This will be how much you pay towards private use in the car.
If you pay a monthly amount it would be the amount paid in the tax year so for 2023/24 from 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024.
    Thank you.
  • RE:VAT Notice 744c

    Hi Jane,
Notice744C doesn't  make explicit reference to jackup rigs for it to accurately reflect the ECJ’s findings in Case C-29118[2019].
HMRC has no expertise in what is or is not a fixed drilling platform.
It is sufficient that the Notice draws the above distinction between installations which are essentially operating in the same way as ships (so are included in the relief), and those which are fixed to the sea floor (so are not included in the relief).
If your business is uncertain whether it should be charging VAT on the services it supplies to its jackup rig customer/s, it will need to ask those customers what the nature of their rig/s is.
From HMRC’s point of view, and as shown in Notice 744C, 2.2, if the rigs are fixed, any taxable supplies of services made to them won’t qualify for the relief from VAT.
    Thank you.
  • RE: Zero rate of VAT for solar panel products

    Hi flaggs2021,
The relief for energy saving materials is only applicable where energy saving materials are provided and installed by the supplier.
If you purchase energy saving products from a shop then if the shop are also not installing the goods then they would need to charge you 20% VAT on the goods.
The relief of 0% VAT is only relevant for goods where they are also installed by the same supplier.
The 0% VAT relief can also apply to an installation charge by a builder where you buy the materials yourself but of course you will only get the relief from the installation work, not the goods which you have purchaed yourself elsewhere.
    Thank you.
  • RE: First Direct Class 3 Voluntary NI Payment Conundrum

    Hi davidBLancs,
The name of our account has changed to HMRC NIC Receipts, however the account number and sort code remain the same.
If your bank still refers to out account as HMRC NICO that should not cause any issue as long as the account number and sort code (which you have quoted in your enquiry) are correct.
    Thank you.
