RE:Do I need to pay CGT in UK again for selling my AUSTRALIAN property
Hi Joe Romeo,
As a UK resident, disposing of an overseas property, you are required to report the disposal in a Self Assessment tax return.
The date of completion of the disposal, is used to determine the tax year it is reported in.
If the completion date is on or after 6 April 2023 to 5 April 2024, it would be declared in your 2023 to 2024 tax return after 6 April 2024.
You would need to convert all the figures to pounds sterling, to include on your tax return.
The exchange rate is not set in stone, which is why you have a choice.
Under the terms of Self Assessment, we do not provide an official exchange rate and the onus is on the individual to use a just and reasonable exchange rate for each acquisition and disposal.
For your convenience, there is a choice of exchange rates here:
Exchange rates from HMRC in CSV and XML format
Or from another source, such as the stock exchange
There is a calculator in that should help you work out your gain:

RE:Workplace Pension & Self-Assessment
Hi Darren Hurst,
If the pension contributions are deducted before your tax is calculated then you would enter the figure on the P60 as this will already inlcude the pension contributions.
Thank you.

RE:Missing P45, incorrect / missing pay on account
Hi Thomas Penny,
If your previous employer has submitted payment details in error to HMRC that you did not receive then they would need to submit the amended details to HMRC to update your record.
If you have contacted the employer and they are not sending the corrected details then you should send your payslips/P45 with a covering letter to review.
Please keep copies of the documents that you send to HMRC.
Thank you.

RE:Self Assessment as PAYE - Private Medical
Hi faisy,
If the medical benefit is not included in your payroll you should have received a form P11d from your employer at the tax year end showing the taxable benefit figure to enter on the tax return.
If the phone allowance is included in your wage then this would already be included in the P60 pay and tax figures.
If not in your wage again should be on the P11d form to declare as a taxable benefit received.
Thank you. -
RE:Income from other sources - Profit and Non-coded income
Hi ikraam_2009,
You will not be charged twice.
The tax will be for different tax years.
The tax retrun submitted will be for the 2022/23 tax year.
The rental income will have been included in your tax code going forward so that tax is deducted over the course of the 2023/24 tax year.
This would mean that when you submit your 2023/24 tax year you will get the credit for the tax paid on the rental income and have a smaller balance to pay.
If you do not want the rental income included in your tax code you will need to contact HMRC to remove.
The tax due on the rental income would then be collected when you file your Self Assessment tax return.
