RE: Paper return Royal Mail delivery delay
Hi nickkaz,
If your tax return was submitted 4 October and still not received by HMRC and you sent it by registered delivery and you have the address and recorded delivery reference number then you can contact HMRC to trace.
Self Assessment: general enquiries
If you do not have that information then you would need to resubmit the tax retrun and appeal any penalties charged for late filing.
Thank you. -
RE: Waiting more than 1 month for UTR no.
Hi Maureen Tsao,
If the registration was submitted online then the timescale is 3 to 4 weeks at present.
If your notice to file the Self Assessment is issued late you get 3 months and a week to file before late filing penalties are charged.
Thank you. -

Hi Katie Allsopp,
If you are under Self Assessment you would need to declare on your tax return and it will be the grossed up figure with the 20% releif added.

Hi L.J.G,
If the employer provides you with a fuel card you would needs to take into account the business miles paid on the fuel card.
If no businees miles paid then yes the calculation would be correct.

RE: Gift Aid - the basics
Hi Stuart Farrimond,
If you claim gift aid then the tax you pay at source must be equal or more than the relief that the charties claim.
If less them you would need to pay the difference.

RE: Trading allowance
Hi stringy,
The trading income allowance can only be claimed instead of claiming expenses.
If you have combined your craft business profit with that of another business, you can only claim expenses or the trading income allowance, not both.
Thank you,
