RE: UTR, Business Tax Account, Personal Tax account
Hi rifflections,
You are followed the correct process so far.
When you receive your UTR (which confirms your Self Assessment record has been set up), you can use that to register to file your Self Assessment returns online, via your Personal Tax Account.
You can do that here:
File your Self Assessment tax return online .
When you enter the income you generate as a sole trader on your Self Assessment return, that income will be attributted to you.

RE: Issue with MCI error for PAYE and Self Assessment
Hi Ying Wai Chan,
We are sorry for any frustration you are experiencing in resolving this issue.
Merging multiple records can take time, as we need to ensure that the details that remain on your merged record are correct across all years of the multiple records being active.
If any tax is due following the submission of your paper return, we will write to you confirming the amount, and you can appeal any penalties that arise through not being able to file your return online.
If you would like to contact us, and would prefer an alternative to phoning, you can contact us by webchat here:

RE: Adjusted Net Income (Tax Free Childcare and 30 free hours) - Salary Sacrifice
Hi Ryan,
You would not deduct salary sacrafice car payments to calculate your Adjusted Net Income.
Salary sacrafice payments are usually deducted from your wage by your employer before they confirm your gross, taxable wage.
Thank you. -
RE: Gift tax for cash gift from overseas
Hi Elizaveta,
Your parents may have to pay tax on the gift in their country of resident, but nothing in the UK.
You will need to declare your share of the businesses profits in a Self Assessment tax return.
You may also have Capital Gains Tax implications if you dispose of your share of the business.
Thank you. -
RE: Dividend reinvestment (DRIP) as shares in a US company and Self Assessment
Hi Anne,
The dividend arising from the shares, is taxable and should be declared on a Self Assessment tax return as a dividends.
If you dispose of the shares for more than they were acquired for, then there may be capital gains tax to pay.
Thank you.
