RE:A1 Certificate (CA3837)
Hi Stephen,
It is possible to obtain an A1 certificate for a child without a National Insurance number.
If you submitted the application online, you will have received a submission reference number for the application.
You can check if HMRC have received the application by using this reference number when you call.

RE: Paid Voluntary NI contributions - How long is updating of the online NI records taking?
Hi ExAussie,
If you could call the National Insurance Helpline on 0300 200 3500 (from the UK) or +44 191 2037010 (from overseas), then they will be able to make sure that your payment is recorded and arrange for it to be allocated to your National Insurance account.
You should have your payment details handy when you call should they need to take the details.

How long after making a Voluntary payment
Hi Colin Clarke,
The current timescale for allocating your wife’s payment is approximately 36 weeks from the date of receipt.
The department who will allocate the payment are currently processing work with a receipt date of 4 November 2023.

RE: CF83 status COMPLETED - What next?

As you are over State Pension Age then the International Pension Centre will be able to discuss your current and future entitlement to a UK State Pension and the number of voluntary National Insurance contributions that you need to pay to reach the full entitlement.

RE: Why can I not pay Class 2 contributions whilst abroad?
Hi peter_r_c,
To be entitled to pay voluntary class 2 National Insurance contributions whilst overseas, an individual must be either employed or self-employed overseas and before they left the UK they were employed or self-employed.
To check why you are not able to pay the voluntary class 2 contributions you may wish to call our National Insurance Helpline on +44 191 2037010 and they will be able to check your National Insurance account.

RE: How to pay from UK after CF83 approval.

If you’d like to pay the voluntary National Insurance contributions for the period that you were overseas, then our bank details are:
- Sort code 08-32-20
- Account number 12001004
- Account name HMRC NIC Receipts
For the reference number you would use your National Insurance Number followed by the initials IC
hen your surname and initial.
For example if your name is Anne Jones the reference number would be: QQ123456AICJONESA

RE: Obtain A1 Certificate without employer 'sending me abroad'.
Hi Chloe,
HMRC do need your employer to complete a CA3821 so that we can complete further checks.
They can attach a covering letter with the form to explain that they are not actually sending you abroad, and that you are choosing to work from Spain.
Please ask your employer to do this.

If you are in an EU country then our International Team are working on queries received in November 2023 or if you’re working in a country outside of the EU then the Team are working on queries received in February 2024.
