RE:Tax Code
Hi Cal,
Tax codes, when issued electronically to the employer are typically received within 72 hours.
If the code is not received in time for payroll cut off, then the employer may not get to action the new code.
May be worth checking if the employer has received the new tax code (after the 72 hours have passed).
If not, contact HMRC to re-issue the tax code.
Thankyou.

RE:Paying tax on local govt pension lump sum (UK)
Hi,
Theanswer to this question may be different depending on a few factors:
1) depending on if you are UK resident
2} depending on if the pension income mentioned is an occupational pension which is paid by the local government or actually a state pension.
Depending on why no tax was taken at source for example was the amount taken within the 25% tax free element of the pension, and therefore tax may not be due.
In order for HMRC to give the best advice it may be beneficial to be able to see your tax records and establish the full facts:

RE:Employer has not provided P60 and is not responding to any type of communications
Hi,
As well as providing the employee with a P60 at the year end an employer should also notify HMRC through Realt Time Information of any pay and tax information relating to an employee.
Without having acess to your wife's record we are unable to check this.
We would suggest your wife contacts HMRC and provide details about the situation/position and they can offer further advice:

RE:Part time second job tax
Hi Bmstrt,
You would normally expect that If you will use all your your personal allowances at your full time job then it would be best to retain and use all your allowances against that job.
The Personal Allowance and how that is split does not have an effect on national insurance.
If you have any concerns about national insurance I would suggest you speak to the national insurance helpline.
Thankyou. -

They are where possible taxed at source by reducing you tax free allowance in your tax code by the amount provided to you.
If you have received a tax calculation showing you are owed tax back.
The calculation should advise how this can be claimed. Further information for your this can be found in your personal tax account: Personal tax account: sign in or set up
