Live abroad, working for UK

Hi I have been living abroad for a few years now but still working for my UK employer. All tax issues were sorted before I left the country but keeping a UK bank account simply for salary purposes is becoming a painful experience (bank has certain communication issues shall we say) SO my question is simply, do need to have my wage paid into a UK bank, or is it down to what every the employer /employee agree upon. I use an online bank here which accepts varying currencies so getting paid in GBP would not be a costly affair bank wise. But my employer does not know if there are any HMRC issues regarding this.
