My annual salary is £40k and I received a £10k bonus in this months pay. Gross pay was £13076 PAYE Tax was £4205 NI was £554 Pension was £523 Take home pay was £7783 Tax Code is 1383M Taxable amount seems high. Reading up it seems that they will assume this is my standard wage and will adjust next month ? Any idea how much I will get back in tax ? Also the pension contribution will be returned as I have been automatically re-enrolled but will cancel this next week. Any advice appreciated !

Hi Michael,

You will have paid more this month as the Personal Allowance and tax rates are split over the full 12 months.

You will start to be refunded the additional tax over the next few months.

Thank you.
