RE: Tax free savings allowance?
Hi simon,
In addition to the £1000 Personal Savings Allowance, your remaining tax free allowances will also be applied, and you may also benefit from the £5000 starting rate for savings.

RE: Filing Self Assessment if the year in question has not been issued by HMRC
Hi Robert
You can send a return for a year that has not been issued, but any such return received will take longer to process.
Requesting to file for a year reduces the time taken to process your return and make any repayments due available -
to do so, contact us by webchat or phone via Self Assessment: general enquiries
Thank you. -
RE: Payment due end of July
Hi Paul Sheraton,
The amount requested will most likely have been your 2nd Payment on Account for 23/24.
You can find out more about Payments on Account here - Understand your Self Assessment tax bill
Thank you. -
RE: Second job tax rate
Hi Iryn,
The code applied to your second job would be D0 - your income there would be taxed entirely at 40%, as your allowances and 20% band would have been used in full at your main employment. As you income is over £100K, there would also be an adjustment applied to the code at your main employment, to deduct £5000 of tax free allowances (as you lose £1 of allowances for every £2 you earn over £100K).

RE: Would I be entitled to tax credits
Hi Johnny62,
You would need to supply the profits declared on the Self-Assessment, if £9,500 was declared on the Self-Assessment then this is the figure you should use.
Thank you. -
RE: Cannot sign in to tax account after changing phone
Hi Jarkko Aro,
When a customer changes device or removes / re-installs the Authentication App, they will need to reset their security preferences
If you can not do this online yourself, you will need to contact Online Services Helpdesk on 0300 200 3600

Nil award for Universal Migration but have overpayment for 2023-24 tax credit
Hi Rachel Bubeer,
Unfortunatly we are unable to confirm the position without looking at the case.
If a UC claim was made the debt may have been sent over to DWP and in that case you should have received a TC1131 advising them of this.
If the debt has remained with HMRC youshould have received a TC610 Notice to Pay, I would advise you to contact the Helpline to confirm the position.
If DWP have the debt they will contact you, if the debt is with HMRC they can arrange repayments by calling the Tax Credit Payment Helpline on 0345 302 1429.
Thank you. -
RE: Tax code for employed and self employed
Hi Kdoggie11,
If your new employment is your only PAYE employment, this will automatcially be set as your main employment.
If you have already applied tax free allowances to the Self Employment income you earned before becoming a PAYE employee, though, you may wish to request
that the code used by your new employee be issued on a Month 1 basis - this will ensure that your new employer does not apply these allowances to your PAYE income.
Thank you. -
RE: Zero hours contract - significantly more pay in a month
Hi fran_fmrg,
You are taxed on the earnings paid in a given tax period.
As this relates to your individual tax affairs we would suggest contacting personal tax on 0300 200 3300.
More information regarding contacting personal tax can be found at Income Tax: general enquiries.
Thank you.
