RE: Mechanism for paying class 2 NI contributions from abroad
Hi classwho,
You may continue to pay voluntary class 2 National Insurance overseas until the date that you end employment/self-employment.
After your overseas employment/self-employment end, you may continue to pay voluntary class 3 contributions.
You should let us know when your overseas employment/self-employment ends.
You may wish to obtain a State Pension Forecast via Check your State Pension forecast which will detail your current and future entitlement to a State Pension.
Thank you. -
RE: NI Contributions

RE: HMRC asking for £800 from when I was a child
Hi Silence,
This will be a voluntary payment that you can choose to pay, for a year where you have a shortfall in your National Insurance records.
Anything shown as ‘voluntary’ is not a bill and it is your choice whether you choose to pay the voluntary National Insurance contribution or not.
Thank you. -

RE: Voluntary contributions to fill gaps but I have no gaps
Hi Ruth Garcia,
A person is only able to pay voluntary contributions from their Date of Entry into the UK National Insurance scheme.
As you’ve advised that you came into the UK in 2015 then you may pay National Insurance contributions only from that tax year.
Thank you. -
RE: Working abroad and military service
Hi Scrogs,
You will need to direct your question to The Pension Service as they are responsible for the calculation and payment of the State Pension.
Their telephone number is: 0800 731 0469.

RE: New State Pension NI qualifying years to get full pension
Hi brianbales,
To check your current and future entitlement to a State Pension, you may wish to obtain a State Pension Forecast via Check your State Pension forecast
or via your Personal tax account: sign in or set up
The number of qualifying tax years to achieve a full State Pension differs for everyone depending on their work history.

RE: Completing CF83 form after returning to the UK
Hi Moideen Kunju Abdul Rahim,
If your wife was not employed or self-employed overseas then she will not be entitled to pay the voluntary class 2 contributions, she may, however, pay voluntary class 3 contributions.
If she could send us a letter to detail her period overseas (from … to …) and the country involved, we will be able to update her National Insurance account and detail any voluntary contributions that she may pay. She should also include her National Insurance Number and address.
Before deciding to pay voluntary contributions I would ask that she obtains a State Pension Forecast which will detail her current and future entitlement to a State Pension and will explain if it is worthwhile to pay voluntary contributions. She may obtain this from: Check your State Pension forecast
Thank you.

RE: Declaration of trust - Income tax and capital gains
Hi Tom Evans,
The share that you declare the rental property in does not have to match the actual ownership share so your understanding appears correct.

Thank you.
