Clarification of £135 Import Rules For Consumers
Hi Laura Curtis,
Customs value of the goods at the time of importation is determined by the value of the goods, postage, packaging, insurance and any duty you owe. You pay VAT when you buy the goods or to the delivery company before you receive them.
If you have to pay VAT to the delivery company, it’s charged on the total package value.
More information on thresholds explained in below link.

RE:Import of my own goods via post - question
Hi NereaFacundo,
Customs charges are applied because it has been sent as normal parcel without claiming returned goods relief.
Customer needs to check if UPS will allow them to send the parcel back without incurring costs.
Alternatively customer can pay the charges and request a repayment from HRMC using form C285.

RE:Old EORI number but not VAT registered anymore
Hi Evianyu,
A seller in Poland needs to speak to their VAT department for advice about VAT exemptions, but importer in the UK will have to pay the customs charges as per the trade tariff.
As the trader is no longer VAT registered in the UK, they need to ensure they have new EORI number.
EORI number issued with VAT number should not be valid or used.
Trader can contact EORI team using below link.

RE: Tax refund to Agen
Hi Domini Beniston,
If you do not want a 3rd party to make a claim/act on your behalf then you should not sign authority for them to act on your behalf or nominate them to receive a repayment on your behalf.
If you authorised an agent to act on your behalf in the past and you no longer want this to be the case, then you would need to contact HMRC to update your records.
Contact HMRC
If you signed a deed of assignment this can only be revoked by both parties writing to HMRC revoking the deed.
If you think you have been the victim of a scam claim then you would need to report the details to:
Action Fraud 0300 123 2040 website www.actionfraud.police.uk
Thank you.
