RE Part time second job tax
Hi
Your personal allowance for this year is 12570, so this works out at 1047.50 every month of the tax year, if you have only 1 employment this is given to that employment, but if you have 2 you may be able to split your allowance between the 2 of them. You should contact our helpine so we can review if this is possible. see link: Income Tax: general enquiries -

RE Remote working in the US for up to 6 months - tax implications?
Hi
Your employer can contact HMRC and seek a direction to operate PAYE on an employees earnings, by filling out and submitting the form at (Apply for a direction to operate PAYE on an employee's earnings) your UK earnings, while you are resident in the USA. They will continue to deduct class 1 national insurance from your earnings, during this period. You will also need to complete a self assessment tax return after the tax year has ended. Your employer does not need to set up a payroll in the USA, as the S690 direction will be sufficient. -
RE: Taking lump sums from more than one pension pot
Hi
If you receive an 'unathorised payment' from your pension provider, then a tax return will be required. (Pension schemes and unauthorised payments). -
RE: Tax on state pension and work pensions in the first year of retirement
Hi
The DWP will notify HMRC automatically when your state pension starts, this is usually within 7 days. HMRC will then issue an amended tax code including the state pension so tax is deducted accordingly. You can check your current tax code to ensure this has been updated on the personal tax account.
