Hi Raymond_34 Mond,
It is possible if you are paid weekly but some weeks have no income you may potentially be leaving gaps in your record.
However there is the opportunity to voluntary pay off any gaps you leave with class 3 National Insurance contributions.
We do however advise speaking to the Future Pensions Centre first before making any voluntary contributions.
You can set up a Personal Tax Account or ring our customer service helpline to enquire if there is a gap in your record.

RE: VC3
Hi Dicky,
If you were employed, or claiming benefits during the 2023-2024 tax year, it may take until October 2024 for these details to be recorded onto your National Insurance records.
If you were, this would affect the amount of Voluntary National Insurance contributions that you would be quoted to pay.
If you were self-employed during the 2023-2024 tax year, this would also affect the amount that you would pay.
Before you pay Voluntary National Insurance contributions for any year, you must contact the Pension Service first, to check that paying for a particular year will increase your pension.
You can contact them on 0800 731 0469, lines are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
Thank you.
