  • Proof of addess

    Hi KikiMc,
If you have access to a Personal Tax Account (PTA) you will be able to print a National Insurance Confirmation Letter off yourself.
If you do not currently have a PTA you may wish to consider setting one up via gov.uk.
Alternatively, you may wish to call our National Insurance Helpline (on 0300 200 3500) and they will be able to arrange for a National Insurance Confirmation Letter to be issued to you via post.
    Thank you.

  • RE: confusion about voluntary contributions

    Hi david thomas,
Information about paying voluntary National Insurance contributions whilst overseas may be found in our leafletNI38 ‘Social Security Abroad’ which you may find here:

If you wish to pay voluntary contributions after reading the leaflet then please complete and return the CF83 application form which you will find at the same web page as the NI38.
Before applying to pay voluntary contributions you may wish to check your current and future entitlement to a British State Pension.
    More details are given here:

    Thank you.

  • RE:Confused about NI shortfall and Class 2 eligibility

    Hi Brian Courtney,
As you are over State Pension age we cannot advise about periods abroad,m as this is done by the DWP International Pension Centre +44 (0)1912187777 – they can advise about gaps in National Insurance, what can be paid and how much it costs.
    Thank you.

  • RE: Cessation of NIC for pensioners

    Hi Euroqueen Anne,
It is correct that National Insurance contributions cease once customer reaches their state pension age.
There is no such change in deductions for Income Tax, that will continue if a customer is over the Income Tax Threshold.
Previously, if an individual earned over the Income Tax Threshold they would pay BOTH NI and Income Tax so it could be their total deductions are lower.
    Thank you.

    Hi Cherry McNamee,
If there is some information that you would like us to take into account when we look at your CF83 application form, then please forward the letter to us.
When we deal with your CF83 form we will see your letter and include the details that you will have provided.

  • RE:New wage after voluntary contribution

    Hi Emireli,
Without more details we can’t check your records.
If you have paid and received confirmation that the money has been allocated then DWP usually recalculate the state pension straight away.
We would suggest first checking via your Personal Tax Account ( PTA) or by calling NI helpline that the money paid has been received, allocated and charged to the correct years to make them fully qualifying.
Then please call DWP Pension Service to check the position with the pension award/calculation.
    Thank you.

  • RE: Specified Adult Childcare Credits

    Hi Relishy57,
Applications for Specified Adult Childcare Credits (SACC) are currently taking 35 weeks from receipt to processing.
Any decision to backdate pension award is for DWP to make, normally they would honour the date of the application as the date the contributions were updated.
So 21/22 should be backdated to the start of SPA, 22/23 likely take effect from the date of application.
However, as I say the backdating decision is solely at DWP discretion and you should contact the Pension Service to discuss.
    Thank you.
