Hi there, Looking for some advice please, I work in education and transferred to a new employer 5 months ago (exact same role and pay scale), I was with my last employer for 15 years and never had any tax issues. All has been fine with my new employer for the past 5 months, however this month at the start of the new tax year, I have been taxed 40% on a SD1 Tax code? I've paid almost £1000 too much in tax, and my previous tax code was SD) M1. I've tried calling HMRC (wont let me talk to a person) and the online logon doesn’t seem to help explain the situation, nor how to get a refund / correct the issue for good. Could my employer have made a mistake here to and payrol entered the wrong tax code? Any Advice would be greatly appreciated? Thanks, Steve

Hi,

It sounds as though the 2023 to 2024 code does not hold your employment correctly as SD1 is a code we would expect to be held on a secondary income.

You will need to keep trying to get through to us to correct this.
