I submitted a SA tax return for the 21/22 in April 2022. I've just received a letter from HMRC which states "the last self assessment tax return you'll need to complete is for the year ended 5 April 2022. I don't know how to interpret this. Is it saying that the SA which I have already submitted for 21/22 is the last that I'll need to submit, in which case there is nothing for me to do, or is it saying that I need to take action to submit an SA for 21/22 despite having already submitted one. It's very difficult to obtain clarification because the telephone number states it is only for use of people with special needs.

Hi Richard Morley,
If you have already completed your Self Assessment Tax return for 21/22 no further action is required.
The letter is stating the last return you were required to complete is  for tax year 21/22.
Thank you.
