Hi, I'm not sure I need to fill the Self Assessment form or not. May I have some advise? I move in to UK mid-Dec 2021 and live in HK before. I'm not live in UK or work in UK before move in UK. I tried to do the test but still not sure. Thank you.

Hi,

If this has added a Self-Employment section, you can access this section from 4) Fill in Your return and delete it.

Thank you.

Hi, I still confuse of the self assessment (year 2021-2022) and not sure I need submit the form or not. My case is: I'm a tax resident in Hong Kong before move in to UK. I'm living and working in Hong Kong until 30/11/2021. I'm never Visit/Work/Living/Holding property before move in UK. I'm move in UK on 11/12/2021 and living in UK until now. Also, I'm still not work from 11/12/2021 - 06/04/2022. Should I need to submit the Self assessment tax form? Thank you.

Hi

Peterpan,

You are taxable on your UK and worldwide income from the date your arrive in the UK to the end of the tax year.

You will need to follow the guidance at RDR 1 :

Guidance note for residence, domicile and the remittance basis: RDR1  )  .

You will then need to review the tests at :

RDR3 Statutory Residence Test  ,

to determine if your are resident or non-resident in the UK for the tax year.

If you are found to be resident in the UK for the whole tax year, you will need to consider whether split year treatment applies to your circumstances.

Whether you need to submit a tax return will depend on how the residence tests apply to your circumstances and whether split year treatment is allowed.

G  guidnace on split year treatment can be found at :

Residence, Domicile and Remittance Basis Manual    .

Thank you.

Hi,

When a return is filed online we don't send a letter advising of the amount due.

If you have an online account you will be able to see confirmation of the amount due.

If you do not have an online account you will need to contact our helpline:

Self Assessment: general enquiries   .

Thank you.
