Hi, I have a query regarding foreign income. If I am employed overseas for the whole tax year April-April (2021-22) am I liable to pay UK income tax, if I live and remain in the foreign country for that tax year also? I lived and worked as a permit resident in Bermuda and was employed full time, paying payroll tax there. Am I correct in understanding that as I was there for the tax year I do not have to pay UK income tax as I was resident abroad and didn't spend more than many days in the uk that year? I looked on the foreign tax guidance and this scenario doesn't seem clear to me to be honest.

Hi,

A person who is not resident in the UK for a full tax year (e.g. 6 April 2021 to 5 April 2022) and is not employed by a UK employer in that period,
is not taxable on that employment income in the UK .

Thank you.
